EnerStar Annual Meeting Postponed, Board Elections Proceed as Scheduled

Our co-op is committed to the welfare and safety of our valued membership, our dedicated employees, and the communities we serve. In that spirit of community, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, following the CDC recommendation and the recent Illinois school closings, the Annual Meeting scheduled for March 28, 2020 has been postponed.

Completed voting ballots can be returned one of three ways. The cooperative highly encourages members to mail their ballots. These should be received by March 26. However, there are two options for hand-delivering ballots. Ballots can be placed in EnerStar’s night deposit box by Friday, March 27, 2020 or brought to the Crestwood School on Saturday, March 28, 2020, where the cooperative will have temporary facilities in the parking lot between 7:30 am to 9:30 am. Election results will be announced shortly after.

As is our mission, EnerStar Electric Cooperative is committed to the welfare and safety of our valued membership, our dedicated employees, and the communities we serve. In that spirit of community, due to concerns regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic, and following the recommendation of the CDC, the Board of Directors and Management of EnerStar have made the decision to postpone the Cooperative’s Annual Meeting that is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2020.

Last week, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) urged limits on gatherings over more than 250 people.  Then on Thursday of last week, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker mandated no crowds over a 1,000 people should gather for the next 30 days. The attendance at EnerStar’s Annual Meeting is well above 250 people and has the potential to attract more than 1,000 people. In addition, the meeting was to be held at Crestwood School. Schools across Illinois will be closed through March 30.

The election of the board of directors will proceed as scheduled. The completed voting ballots can be returned one of three ways. The cooperative highly encourages members to mail their ballots in the pre-addressed, stamped ballot envelope they received along with their ballot in mid-February. Mailed ballots must be received by Wednesday, March 26. There are two options for hand-delivering ballots. Ballots in the sealed ballot envelope can be placed in EnerStar’s night deposit box before Friday, March 27, 2020.  The ballot can also be brought to Crestwood School on Saturday, March 28, where the cooperative will have temporary facilities in the Crestwood parking lot. Drop off times are from 7:30 am to 9:30 am. Election results will be announced shortly after.

The Cooperative will continue to monitor the situation to determine if the meeting can be rescheduled and held a later date.  We will keep the membership informed of any additional decisions through our newsletter, website, social media channels and local media.
