EnerStar Electric linemen compete in Lineman’s Safety Rodeo
Linemen from EnerStar Electric Cooperative participated in the 20th Lineman’s Safety Rodeo sponsored by the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives (AIEC) on Friday, Oct. 20. This year, 13 teams participated in the competition. The rodeo gives linemen the opportunity to showcase their special skill sets that keep the lights on but in a way that makes sure they also return home safely after a long night of work.
Each year, participants compete in events using skills that focus on agility, speed and accuracy. While these skills are part of the judging criteria, above all, the linemen are judged on safe work practices. Representing EnerStar again this year was Keith Borchers, Russ Camp and Jake Keys.
EnerStar earned first place as a team in the egg climb and single-phase transformer changeout events. Those scores, along with high placing in other events, allowed the team to capture a second-place finish in the overall team competition.
In addition, competing as an individual, Camp received 1st place overall.
Great job guys! We are proud of you!
