More than just a meeting

Vote, socialize, eat and more when you attend your annual meeting

Cooperatives operate according to the same set of core principles and values. There are seven of them. Principle #2 is “Democratic Member Control.” Cooperatives are controlled by their members, who actively participate in setting policies and making decisions. The co-op board of directors are elected among the membership and are accountable to them. Members have equal voting rights – one member, one vote.

After a two-year hiatus due to COVID restrictions, the EnerStar employees and directors are excited to have the opportunity to hold the annual meeting of members.

The official notice of the meeting was mailed to all active members in late April. Members may vote for the co-op directors by mail or bring their ballot to the meeting. At the meeting, members will vote on proposed bylaws.

While traditionally held in the month of March, this year’s annual meeting will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at the Paris High School complex.

While voting is important, it isn’t the only reason to attend your co-op’s annual meeting. Here are many more reasons to attend:

  • Socialize! Catch up with neighbors, family, and friends you don’t normally see.

  • Food! We are doing things a bit differently this year. We know many of you love the pancakes and sausage breakfast of year’s past, but this year we will be serving a wonderful meal catered by Front Street Market (Hume). The meal will be served from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the PHS cafeteria.

  • Information! Explore programs offered from your electric co-op that will help you and your family.

  • Win prizes! Register and stay for the meeting and you could win a fabulous door prize or even bill credits!

  • Learn! You’re never too old to learn new things. We will talk about the national and state energy plans as well as what is going on a local level at the co-op.

  • Meet! Come on by and say hi to the employees who make your electric co-op run. Put a face with a name or meet the directors that represent the district you live in.

  • Hear! Find out what EnerStar will be doing in the next year to provide safe, reliable power to your home and business.

  • Ask! Ask questions. Now is your chance to do that.

Being a member of an electric co-op allows you to take part in your co-op’s annual meeting which is one of the cooperative differences. So, make plans to attend this year’s annual meeting. You’ll be glad you did!
