Youth to Washington Tour

For over 50 years, the electric cooperatives of Illinois have given tomorrow’s leaders the opportunity to learn from today’s public officials. EnerStar is on the hunt for two outstanding students to represent our cooperative at the Youth Day in Springfield and the Youth Tour to Washington! The events are coordinated by the Association of Illinois Cooperatives (AIEC).

Youth Day in Springfield - March 20, 2024

Get a firsthand look at democracy in action! Meet your elected representatives during the Illinois Electric Cooperative Youth Day at the State Capitol and tour the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum.

Youth to Washington - June 14-21, 2024

The chosen EnerStar representatives will spend a week in our nation’s capital visiting historic sites, touring some of our most moving memorials, and browsing the campus of our nation’s capital. They will also visit the Supreme Court!

Selection Process

• Applicants must be freshmen, sophomores, or juniors in the 2023-2024 school year.
• Applicants must reside in a home served by EnerStar Electric Cooperative.
• Two winners will be selected to represent EnerStar.

The application deadline for the 2024 Youth Tour ended January 31, 2024. Please check back in the fall of 2024 for information on the 2025 Youth Tour
