Upcoming EnerStar Electric Cooperative Annual Meeting

The theme for the upcoming EnerStar Electric Cooperative Annual Meeting of Members is “Rooted in Service. Powered by Community,” a reflection of the cooperative’s longstanding commitment to the communities it serves. The event will be held Saturday, June 6, at the Paris High School Complex in Paris. The annual meeting gives the co-op an opportunity to connect directly with its member-owners. More than just a business meeting, it is a time for members to enjoy a delicious breakfast, hear updates on cooperative happenings, ask questions, connect with fellow members, and even win bill credits for attending.

The member breakfast will be served from 7:30 a.m., when the doors open, until 9:00 a.m. in the school cafeteria, catered by On the Tracks Cafe in Paris. The business meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Paris Center of Fine Arts, located within the school complex.

EnerStar Board Chairman Jeff Murphy of Marshall will preside over the meeting. After handling routine business, Secretary-Treasurer Greg Robinson, also from Marshall, will present the 2025 Treasurer's Report. EnerStar CEO Angela Griffin will then provide an update on the cooperative.

Election results for the board of directors will be overseen by Rob Anderson of Anderson Law Office, the cooperative's legal counsel. In Voting District A, longtime board member Jeff Zimmerman previously announced his retirement, and John Henry of Oakland is running unopposed. In Voting District B, incumbent Thad Martin of Paris is also running unopposed. Because both races are uncontested, directors for Districts A and B will be elected by voice vote during the meeting, following the membership’s previous decision to suspend mail-in voting in uncontested races to reduce unnecessary costs.

In Voting District C, incumbent Danny Gard of West Union and Byron Shotts of Martinsville are competing in a contested race, with District C members currently casting ballots by mail. Election inspectors, who are also cooperative members, will count the ballots before Anderson announces the official results at the meeting. Anderson will also review a proposed bylaw amendment for membership consideration. Official meeting notices were mailed to all active members in late April.

All attendees will receive a $25 bill credit and can also win up to $300 in bill credits. Detailed information about the annual meeting is available at www.enerstar.com. Members can also contact the co-op office at 1-800-635-4145 for questions or directions.
