When you receive electricity from EnerStar, you become a member-owner of our not-for-profit cooperative. A portion of your payment goes directly towards your investment in our electrical system. Unlike investor-owned utilities that generate profits for out-of-town shareholders, cooperatives return any profits, or margins as we call them, to their members in the form of capital credits.
