You may be surprised by what's buried in your yard. Most electric, gas, water, sewer, and telecommunications companies deliver underground utility services. To avoid personal injury and damage to underground lines, state law requires you to contact JULIE before any digging project, regardless of the project size or depth. All services are free.
What is JULIE? JULIE, Inc. (Joint Utility Locating Information for Excavators) is a not-for-profit corporation that provides homeowners and professional excavators with one place to call for safer digging. JULIE acts as a notification service for underground facility owners. Whatever you are digging - decks, patios, planting trees, fences, mailbox posts, swing sets, room additions, signs, gardens - you need to call.
You must call JULIE at least two full business days before digging to have all underground utility lines located and marked on your property. Dial 811 (1-800-892-0123) to have your lines marked. This one-call service then locates all underground utilities.
Please remember it is essential to "Call Before You Dig!" Making this call could save your life. It's fast and easy, and it's the law in Illinois. For additional information, visit www.illinois1call.com.
