A storm? A car accident? Equipment failure? Even though EnerStar makes every effort to provide dependable electric service, any of these things and more can cause a power outage. With your help, we can restore power in the quickest manner possible and make sure everyone is safe during an outage. If you experience an outage, here are a few tips:
Gather Relevant Information
Before you call the cooperative, check your home's breaker panel (and any outdoor disconnects) to make sure the outage is not due to a tripped breaker. This will determine if the problem exists with your home or is on the EnerStar side. If your meter is located on a pole, check the breakers below the meter too. Then contact your neighbors to see if they have electricity.
Report the Outage
Once you have checked your home and ruled out any problems on your side, call EnerStar at 1-800-635-4145 to report your power outage. Please have your account number available. During widespread power outages and after business hours, the cooperative's automated outage reporting system does an excellent job of processing a high volume of telephone calls and simultaneously collects data to analyze the situation. As information is received, the system can pinpoint the problem. These reports help crews focus their efforts on the most efficient way to restore power. If you have information on the specific cause of the problem or the location of damage such as trees on the wires, please stay on the line to speak to a member service representative.
Your Safety is Always First!
Always keep a safe distance from downed or damaged power line. Assume every wire is energized. Call EnerStar at 1-800-635-4145 to report a downed power line and let our trained professionals handle the situation.
